LFC History
The Lyme Fire Company, founded in 1949, has served the hamlets of Lyme, Hadlyme, and Hamburg, Connecticut, as a fully volunteer fire department for more than 75 years. Created in response to the town’s need for organized fire protection, the company has grown from a small, community-driven effort into a well-trained, dual-station operation with facilities in both Hamburg and Hadlyme. Over the decades, our volunteers have responded to structure fires, forest and brush fires, rescues, and other emergencies, while also providing fire prevention education and safety training. Rooted in civic pride and neighborly service, the company continues to rely on the dedication of volunteers and community support to uphold its longstanding mission of protecting life and property in Lyme.
